Annual Voters’ Meeting Report
∙ 27 voters were present
∙ Treasurer reports will be available in the Annual Report to be printed soon.
∙ Melissa King was released per her request. David Bender, Ed and Cindy Burgett and children Katie and Ore, Charlton Quade, and Quentin Salzwedel were released due to a lack of response to several forms of communication.
∙ Russell Brown, Greg Jones, and Bob Kirst were elected to the council.
∙ Mike Dumke, Jake Kearns, Joe Minnema were elected to full-terms of the Board of Education. Jim Hannemann was elected to complete the two year term of Barry Hay
∙ Resolved To accept the Board of Education’s recommendation to call the equivalent of a full-time teacher for one year to the upper grade classroom, and to ask the Board of Education for recommendations regarding compensation and nominees.
∙ The Co-operative Budget Plan (Missions) figure for the CLC was set at $39,000
∙ The motion to have the Sunday service time at 9:30 was defeated. It remains at 9:00
∙ The service time for Easter remains at 7:00 and 10:00. There will be communion that service since it is the last Sunday in March.
∙ A mid-week Lenten service pulpit exchange was approved.
∙ Resolved: Not to meet with representatives of Luther Memorial, FDL regarding sharing a full-time pastor (part-time at each congregation)
Commentary Sought on the ILC Professor Nominees
The Board of Regents announces the following nominations to fill the professorship vacated by the impending retirement of Professor John Pfeiffer at the end of the 2015-16 academic year: Dwight (Frank) Gantt, Paul Naumann, David Reim, Peter Reim, Stephen Sydow, Matthew Ude, and Mark Weis. The individual would teach at the high school (potentially), college, and seminary levels with an emphasis on courses in Hebrew (college) and Old Testament theology (seminary) and also in other theological disciplines. Other assignments will be determined upon mutual agreement in accordance with need and corresponding ability. CLC Treasurer/ILC Business Manager
(From the ILC Board of Regents) In July of 2016, Dr. James Sydow will be retiring after serving 13 years as the CLC Treasurer/ILC Business Manager. We thank him for his faithful service! An individual is being sought to serve in this business management position. This position has broad responsibility to oversee the day-to-day financial affairs of the CLC, ILC, and to oversee the staff in the General Business Office. The duties include managing all cash receipts and disbursements and reporting for all accounts and funds of the CLC and ILC to the responsible boards of the CLC. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary as the job requires substantial interaction with ILC students and parents, other synod members, and those outside the synod with whom we do business.
